課程概述

No New Physics has emerged at LHC, but we have several intriguing "flavor anomalies", and we anticipate major updates with LHC Run 2 data, and look forward to Run 3 start in 2021.
The Belle II experiment hasd entered B physics data taking in 2019. Thus, the next few years we expect major progress in flavor physics and CP violation (FPCP) in our quest for physics Beyond the Standard Model. There are also other ongoing experimental pursuits. This Special Topics course would therefore focus on the current landscape of FPCP. The basic reference for talks would be SLAC Summer Institute 2019, with theme "Menu of Flavor". We will further take current talks from relevant conferences (such as Moriond, LHCP, FPCP) to illustrate the recent progress in FPCP.

In this "even" year, we would use as backdrop the monograph "Flavor Physics and the TeV Scale" (Springer-Verlag, 1st edition 2009; 2nd edition 2019). There would not be a Topics based on the monograph in 2020 Academic Year.

Gain perspective on modern, contemporary flavor physics and CP violation research.

Participate in discussion during class, actively update/thermalize knowledge on current FPCP.
